Fylde Council co-hosted two impactful sessions for local businesses on November 6th, 2024, at the Town Hall and at The Dalmeney Hotel on Fylde’s picturesque promenade. These events were free to attend and co-funded by Fylde Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation, which aims to support local businesses in navigating opportunities within the public sector while advancing sustainability practices in alignment with the UK’s green goals.

Supplying the Public Sector
The Boost team Kickstarted the morning with invaluable insights into public sector procurement in the Supplying the Public Sector session, led by the Boost Lancashire Team in partnership with Fylde Council. This session gave ten local businesses the tools and guidance needed to secure public sector contracts, regardless of business size or status. The green credential for public sector procurement was also stressed by fellow Chamber Low Carbon business advisors, who were due to host a 1:1 workshop opportunity later that morning. The support for undertaking a Carbon Reduction Plan, ISO 14001, B-Corps and other accreditations was highlighted.

Attendees also had an opportunity to ask questions and speak with Fylde’s Business Advisor, Debbie Chinn, for tailored advice and support in aligning with local procurement goals and other aspirations. Also in attendance were the North West Aerospace Alliance, Growth Company highlighting their Strive to Thrive and Growth Catalyst Programmes for aspiring businesses, and Community & Business Partners who will be hosting an always well-attended HR Update in Accrington on the 20th of November.

Destination Net Zero
The Chamber Low Carbon Team hosted a Destination Net Zero workshop for businesses committed to sustainable practices. This session focused on advising businesses on how their team can help them to meet the ISO 14001 standard, a key credential for public sector suppliers prioritising environmental sustainability.  PV 06/21 and Carbon Reduction Planning. They also covered B -Corps and how the businesses could get involved. Experts guided attendees on the meaningful steps toward carbon neutrality, making this an insightful session for businesses aiming to align with public sector requirements and the private sector while reducing their environmental impact.

Network, Learn, and Grow with Local Experts
All these business support events held by Fylde Council and its UK Shared Prosperity Fund Delivery Partners present valuable opportunities to connect with fellow local businesses, discover best practices, and explore the many business-supporting initiatives that can enhance business prospects and sustainability.
